Daily Summary (pdf file)
Team Summary (pdf file)
Wow - what a perfect day to end the Silver Spoon 2021 event! Glad to see so many out on the trails. Today, we have submissions for over 2,000 km in a single day (from the start of the event, 9,929km!
A few things to update you on about the results and final submissions. I know many have submitted today already. But, we will leave the submissions open until 6pm tomorrow (Feb 15th). If you find you have any issues submitting, please e-mail me. I am able to check the back end quite easily, and so far I have been able to resolve any issues that have come up (often multiple submissions for the same km).
Note that have a look at your results. If you think your km count is too high or too low, let me know what you think happened and I can investigate. If you would like me to e-mail you all your submissions for the week, I can cut and paste those to you in an e-mail - no problem at all. Just let me know; I'll be signing off for the night shortly, but will be on the clock early tomorrow!
Pictures - Feel free to post any pictures you have to the Silver Spoon Facebook page.
Stories - Favourite stories are really important to our community event. Please e-mail your favourite Silver Spoon 2021 story to Anne Murphy at amcmurf@gmail.com
And - now our map of cumulative distance. As much as I loved drawing and touring Pinawa and Uranium City, SK, I have redrawn our route here (attached). With the route now on here, we have joined the Atlantic, the Pacific, and the Arctic Ocean, and skied through 8 provinces and 2 Territories. Maybe when our results our finalized, we'll be able to make it to 10 provinces and 2 Territories!
Well done!

Hey all,
Well done. Despite a rather chilly day today, the sun was shining and Balmer Bay road was busy with cars of many skiers.
I want to let you know, that the goal of reaching Tuktoyaktuk has been achieved! With a few hundred km to spare. And with 1 more day to accumulate even more distance, here is a thought: let's take this team east and see if we can reach the Atlantic - St John, NB or Halifax, NS should be within reach!
I don't have a map tonight for you, but that will come after the final results are tallied.
Note, tomorrow is the last day of Silver Spoon 2021. Get in some extra km, and I'll leave the submission of trails and km open until the evening of Feb 15th and then start tabulating "official" results.

Hey all Silver Spoon participants,
Pull out an extra layer of merino wool undies from top to bottom for a chilly weekend of skiing - but don't give up on Silver Spoon just yet - there is a new BONUS. Based on the bank account, all km already completed- and those still to be done this weekend will result in a $ 0.50 contribution to the charities of choice - North Renfrew Family Services and the Deep River and Area Food Bank. So, let's rack up the km!
And the km are still climbing. The cumulative distance from Deep River Balmer Bay from participants has now reached Pelly Crossing on the Dempster Highway! Can we have another weekend like last week and get to Tukoyaktuk? Let's see . . .
See you all on the trails again tomorrow!

Great to see all of you on the trails enjoying the amazing weather this Silver Spoon week has delivered. We got just enough snow prior to the week, broke the cold snap (avoiding what the prairies are getting now).
Summaries are for the day as of 8pm.
I know our map will look a little odd going to the End of the Road in Saskatchewan - have a look. Tomorrow we take this into the back country and onto a lake crossing - Uranium City. Next big goal for the week - Tuktoyaktuk.

Here are your daily results to enjoy over a bowl of meusli and a coffee.
Did you realize, after getting to Pinawa by Sunday evening, we are now in North Battleford, SK? Where to next? We are going to run out of country by Sunday; unless we take a turn to the north . . .
Note: I do plan on sending a summary of trails/personal goals so far and results in alphabetical order by last name. But it is harder to automate that report, and we are still gaining 10-15 registrants a day. You will see something this week in that regards, however. Or, if anyone wants to volunteer to work with Google Sheets, I am happy to walk you through the process of what needs to be done . . .
Keep up the awesome skiing & snowshoeing, and I will report again tomorrow.
Kevin
In just 4 days (Feb 6-9th), the Silver Spoon participants have totaled enough km to travel from Deep River to βthe end of road 955β SK (3,740 km)! WHY there? After visiting Pinawa, it is time to take our nuclear tour to Uranium City, SK (back country skiing the rest of the way there!)
Goal: Tuktoyaktuk, NWT

You can still submit distances/trails from Feb 6th and 7th; but these are the results submitted so far in the attachments.
Congrats to our distance leader - Jamie Hopkins - wow - 107 km in 2 days!
But a HUGE congratulations to everyone participating. Do you realize - in just 2 days, the cumulative distance skied and snowshoed is 1,947 - that is enough to ski from the Balmer Bay trails to Pinawa, MB. I'm thinking we can get to Calgary by the end of this thing? Let's go for it!
