Equipment

The DRUC retains/maintains a basic set of dive equipment to support the training program and to provide rental gear to members.  The DRUC also provides air-fill services to its members.  While having the gear undergo annual maintenance/inspection at authorized maintenance shops, the club also offers to its members the service of having personal equipment (i.e., owned by the members) shipped for maintenance/inspection.  This not only makes the maintenance task easy for the members (promoting their participation in the maintenance/inspection program, in turn promoting safety), but the members are then able to access the discount rates that the Club receives.  Convenience and discount cost – what could be better?

Equipment Rentals

A basic suite of core equipment items is available for members to rent (buoyancy compensators, tanks, regulators (with three gauge consoles), and weight belts. We don’t (yet) have wets suits available for rent, but equipment sharing among members is the way out for this shortfall.

The rental rates for 2005 are listed below.  The rates are set below commercial rates to keep the sport accessible to most, but high enough that the income covers the annual cost of having the equipment serviced professionally.

To reserve/request rental gear, contact Peter Angell or Marc Audet.

Maintenance/Inspection Program

While having the gear undergo annual maintenance/inspection at authorized maintenance shops,

All DRUC equipment is inspected/serviced professionally on an annual basis.

While it is the responsibility of all divers to ensure that their equipment is similarly inspected/serviced on an annual basis, the DRUC promotes this safe diving practice.  As such, the club also offers to its members the service of having personal equipment (i.e., owned by the members) shipped for maintenance/inspection.  This not only makes the maintenance task easy for the members, but the members are then able to access the discount rates that the Club receives.  Convenience and discount cost – what could be better?

Air-Fill Service

The DRUC used to operate a fill station (filling not only scuba tanks but also cylinders for the local Fire Department), but the old compressors became difficult (parts availability) and costly to maintain, so the station was shut down, and luckily, we are able to have our tanks filled at the Deep River Fire Hall.

The procedure to have tanks filled involves dropping them off not at the Fire Hall, but with one of the executive, who will then interface with the Fire Hall.  The Fire Hall staff normally fill the tanks up on the next night shift, so dive planning must take this into account.  Being a small Club somewhat isolated from the nearest dive shop, we are very grateful that the Fire Hall offers this service to the DRUC.

The tank-fill rate is our fill cost, which is $6 per tank.
