Assistant Treasurer |
Elizabeth
Ells Elizabeth recently finished serving a two year term as
Chair of Council and now serves as Chair of the
Nominating committee. She is also the Church’s
talented self-appointed photographer and she gets “joy
when a roll of film comes back and there is a stunning
image”. Elizabeth grew up in Croydon, England, until
her family was evacuated during the war. She came
to Chalk River in March, 1959, working in the Biology
Division of AECL. She first attended the Community
Church in 2000. Her favourite quotation is by John
Donne (1571-1631):
God does not say
You should have come yesterday
He never says
You must come again tomorrow
But if you speak to him now
He will make summer out of your winter
Thou’ there has been no spring
He brought light out of darkness, not out of lesser
light.

Evans Harrison
Evans, a
New Brunswick native, came to Deep River in 1957 and
worked at AECL Chalk River for 33 years as a designer.
His involvement in the Community Church began with
helping to raise money to build the Christian Education
Centre, and continued for nearly 20 years as a Sunday
School teacher and General Superintendent. After
that, he joined the choir and has spent 30 years in the
bass section. Over the years he has chaired many
church boards and committees – including Planning,
Worship, Elders, Personnel, Membership, Council,
Property, Stewardship and Nominating – and is now a
Trustee. Evans has worked on several
constitutional revisions, employee contracts, and the
new bequest policy. He has always been a keen
missions supporter, and most recently organized a
barbershop concert to help pay for church organ repairs.
Evans likes the Pogo philosophy: “don’t take life
too seriously – it ain’t no how permanent!”; |
