After 51 years, the Silver Spoon Ski Fest has been discontinued. The last event was in February 2023. The main reason was the low and continually declining participation by local skiers in the races. We will have very fond memories of this event. Our heartfelt thanks to all skiers and volunteers over the years for being part of it.

In 2023: the Ski Fest will be a multi-day ski and snowshoe touring event, plus a ski loppet on the last day.

The 51st Silver Spoon Ski (and Snowshoe) Fest will be held from Saturday, February 11 to Sunday, February 19, 2023.

  • The 2023 events are open to cross-country skiers who are members of the Deep River Cross-Country Ski Club (DRXC) and open to snowshoers who have submitted a one-time Four Seasons Conservancy waiver.

Multi-Day Touring Event

  • Participants will ski or snowshoe as much as they want (or can!) in the nine-day period, and track their kilometres.
  • Participants will also track which trails they have used.
  • No timing, no cost, no pressure – easy.
  • Accumulated kilometres will qualify for bragging rights and a donation to a local charity.
  • Participants are also welcome to donate in lieu of a registration fee.
  • The “course” will consist of any trail in the area bounded by Driftwood Provincial Park in the west and Petawawa Research Forest in the east.

Ski Loppet

  • Skiers can also participate in a fun race loppet on the final day (February 19).
  • The 5, 10 and 20 km race courses will be on the Silver Spoon Trails.

________________________________

  • A free chili lunch and hot drinks will be available after the races on February 19 for all participants and volunteers in the Silver Spoon events.
