|We at Community Church are blessed to have an extra building available for all sorts of church and community functions.
The Christian Education Centre (CEC) was opened in 1960 to house a burgeoning Sunday School population. Today it serves many different needs, both for the church and also for the wider community,
The building has two levels, each with a room large enough to have 50 to 100 people for a potluck luncheon. There also is a very-well equipped kitchen, several smaller meeting rooms and
storage space. The upper room, in particular, is a very pleasant venue for gatherings of all sorts, with windows on three sides and the kitchen immediately adjacent
The CEC is used for many different kinds of church functions, from the many committee meetings to after-church potluck luncheons, craft sales and bazaars, the Menís Breakfast Fellowship, the Seder supper at Easter, and many other things. One of its
important functions is for receptions following funerals and occasionally weddings, with refreshments provided by the church ladies.
The CEC is also a valuable resource for the whole of Deep River. It is available for rent to groups in the community who would like a place to meet regularly or just once or twice. One can rent a single meeting room or the whole top floor with kitchen, and all facilities - or even the
whole building. It is presently used by several groups, but one can check with the church office for availability and prices.
